#72: BEYONCÉ
"Break My Soul"
from the album Renaissance
Released: July 2022
If
you are reading this in anything other than blog form and I have not already sent you a copy, it follows
that this book has been published. I have certain conditions in
connection with its publication - if indeed any publisher has summoned
the nerve to print it - because I am at the time of writing fifty-nine
years old, hence do not, with one important exception, give a tossing
toss about what anybody thinks of it.
These
conditions include the fact that not one word, punctuation mark or
other form of expression must be altered in any way, removed or replaced
with fields of reference more placatory to the ruling class of
consumers (a contradiction in Hegelian terms). This book must read
exactly as I wrote it. It isn't going to trot out to you and lick your
face with the taste-free saliva of consensual compromise. You have to
find it, locate it amidst the imposed (though not by myself) darkness.
To
that end I will not be undertaking any active promotion of the book.
There will be no photographs, either in the liner jacket of the book or
anywhere else. Nor any interviews, since if all you need to know about
me is not discerned within its pages, this book will have proved a
failure and no lightly-toasted banter will have ameliorated that. No
bookshop presentations on cold benches just adjacent to the cafeteria
toilets, with four people in attendance, one of whom can be assured upon
to pick non-existent nits.
No,
I just want this book to...exist. If necessary, to be found. That way
you don't get hurt, but it doesn't mean you can't be touched. Its being
is sufficient for me. What do you care? Nobody gives a tossed toss what I
think. I've crossed that line. I'm an old man who can say anything he
likes. Well, you know...within reason. But what's the reason?
